What you see
It is round to oblong, 15–20 cm long and 13 cm broad, and weighing about 1 kg. The thick rind is covered with soft, broad spines. These Marang are repined on the tree that is why it is more brownish according to the seller.
no sound.
It has a strong scent superior than a jackfruit. It reminds me of the durian but is not so intense.
The multiple milky white flesh fruit inside is very sweet and the taste has hints of a mild creamy, almost juicy banana.
The texture of the skin is soft with broad spines and brittle which appears lumpy when pressed.,
Quantity  I bought 1 piece weighing about a kilo. It is enough for me and my wife.
Food Assessor's Comment
Marang bears fruit between January to March. Each fruit costs between P10-40 pesos depending on the size. It is best eaten when it is not ripen thoroughly and must be eaten right away. The seeds can be eaten too! by simmering it first to soften.
